Taos area golfers have one more chance to compete in a series of three competitions between area country clubs.
The Río Grande Cup is a golf competition between Black Mesa Golf Club from Española, Santa Fe Country Club and Taos Country Club.
Taos Country Club hosted the second of the three competitions Saturday (June 1). Ten golfers from each club compete in a stroke play competition; scores are calculated based on the total strokes for an 18-hole round. Gross scores are the total number of strokes for a competitor with no handicap, while a player's net score is his or her total number of strokes minus his or her handicap. For this competition, seven low net scores and one low gross score are added to make the team score.
The Taos Country Club team won June 1 with a team score of 590. Santa Fe Country Club came in second with a score of 615 and Black Mesa Golf Club right behind them with 619.
Taos Country Club's John Nilson was the standout with a net score of 66 to take the low net honors for the week.
The final and deciding match between the clubs will be held on Saturday, July 6, at Black Mesa Golf Club in Española.
