William C. Davis The well-known fused glass artist, William C. Davis, 88, of Taos passed away on January 10, 2019 at his home in Ranchos de Taos, NM, while surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Tacoma, Washington and grew up in California, he later moved to New Mexico in 2005. He loved the New Mexico landscape scenery, culture and people. He felt it was a privilege and honor to live and create kiln fired glass art in Taos. He never tired of watching the clouds, sunsets and the changing seasons from the back patio. William had a passion for cooking and baking. Pies and posole were two things he loved most. He was a witty man who delighted in telling stories about his life experiences. William was a well versed man with several degrees. He received his AA, BA, MA, MFA and retired as professor emeritus. His admirable education and experience illuminated his journey through life and his art. He was a subject matter expert in two dimensional, three dimensional, multi-media, fused glass work and ceramics. He was recognized in magazines, newspapers and books throughout the country and internationally. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Olson and Leroy Davis, son, Jon Craig Davis. He is survived by his wife, Jo Nan Davis, children, Bill Jr. (Ingrid) and Barbara Davis, grandchildren, Stacey (Lupe) Valenzuela, Derek (Rosie) Gomez, Jamie Davis, Robert Davis, Michelle (Weston) Davis-Kleinknecht, great-grandchildren, Hailey, Natalie and Dezirae.
