A group of Taos youth and their allies gathered on Taos Plaza Wednesday March 14, 2018 to speak out against gun violence in the nation.

The gathering was conducted in solidarity with protests across the country sparked by the shooting deaths of 17 students and teachers in Parkland, Florida exactly one month previous.

"Teen Coordinators are taking a thoughtful approach and recently participated in a Socratic Seminar-style discussion with adult allies, as they identified mutual concerns around this topic and other school safety and community issues, such as mental health support, teacher support and assisting students and parents to access needed resources," according to a statement put out by Jill Cline, one of the Taos organizers.

After speeches, poetry and music on the plaza, the group marched to the Taos Coomunity Auditorium to view the Nonviolence Works you art exhibit in its Encore Gallery. Video was shot and edited by Rick Romancito for The Taos News, www.taosnews.com.
