The Taos Country Club hosted a high school district golf tournament Monday (May 6).
Though the Taos Tigers didn't have enough golfers for a team score, they did get strong performances from many athletes.
On the boys' side, Josh Fambro, who was golfing on his 18th birthday, finished second in the district with 73 strokes, while Jason Montoya and Jonathan Lucero both finished with 90. Henry Poston of Los Alamos won the district title completing the par-72 course 2 strokes under. Fambro, the defending 4A state champion, will compete at state for the fourth time next weekend.
Caitlin Tafoya, who will golf at the state tournament at Piñon Hills Golf Course in Farmington, finished with a 96, Makayla Montoya with a 102 and Maye Montoya with a 111.
Fambro and Tafoya will play a practice round in Farmington and will play on both Monday (May 13) and Tuesday (May 14).
