Taos High School has been placed on lockdown after rumors of a potential shooter began circulating Friday morning (Feb. 15).
Taos Police Chief David Trujillo said all rumors of a shooter at the school are not credible.
The rumors are believed to be related to a male student at Taos High School who has been accused of raping two female students.
Trujillo said a welfare check was conducted on the student who was charged. The teenager was found at home and is not believed to be a threat, Trujillo said.
The student, who is 17, has not been convicted of any crime and the allegations made against him are still under investigation.
The two cases filed against him are still pending in the Children’s Court Division of 8th Judicial District Court in Taos.
