The Rio Rapids ECNL 02 boys, an Elite Club National League team, won the State Cup, the club team state championship, May 19 in Albuquerque. Taos athlete Teva Lesham is a starting forward for the team, which has won a spot at the Regional Championship West in Boise, Idaho. The regional championship is where state champions of every state north and west of New Mexico, including Alaska and Hawaii, will compete. "Teva's been a big part of that," said head coach Jason Moran.

The Rio Rapids ECNL 02 boys will play three games over three days in their bracket. The top two teams will continue to the quarterfinals. "The first goal is to get out of the group," said Moran.
