Taos Lady Tigers up their game

Posted

The Taos Lady Tigers headed into their Monday (Sept. 16) game against the Santa Fe Demonettes with a three-game winning streak.

Santa Fe ended the streak, but barely, eeking out a 2-1 win over Taos. That put the Lady Tigers at 5-2-1 record of wins, losses and draws for the season thus far.

Their wins have been helped in no small measure by senior goalkeeper Amiree Olivas, who has provided the team with three shutouts.

Their winning streak started with a 5-1 win over Bernalillo on Sept. 10, followed by a 5-0 shutout of Capital Sept. 12 and 10-0 win over Monte on Sept. 14.

Olivas has 46 saves this season thus far. St. Mike's got four balls past her into the net for a win, the Tigers only other loss of the season.

So far, the Tigers season is looking up compared to this time last year.

The Lady Tigers are slated to play the Academy for Technology and the Classics on Thursday (Sept. 19).
