Monday (June  24):

Town of Taos council will hold a workshop meeting at 4 p.m. to hear a report on substance abuse data for Taos County from the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, a marketing report and an update on an Internet vocation and education  program.  The meeting will be held at 120 Civic Plaza Drive. Workshops are for discusson only to prepare for Tuesday's meeting; the council is not supposed to take action on any items. 

Tuesday (June 25): 

The Town of Taos council meets at 4 p.m. and has a long list of items on the agenda. Among items on the consent agenda for the council is a $930,123 contract with  SMA Operations to manage the Taos Valley Regional  Wastewater and Reclamation facility. The council also will consider a "standstill agreement" between the town and  Montecito Partners, a proposal submitted by Mayor Dan Barrone on behalf of town manager Rick Bellis.  the council also will consider signing off on  a capital appropriation for an airport hangar and making Bellis the town's representative for the project. 

In other matters, the council will recognize new town firefighter Joseph Miller and hear a final report from organizers of the downtown community planning project called Strong at Heart and a report from the new Mainstreet program organization. Related to those items, the counci will consider adopting a resolution for an Economic Transformation Strategy for downtown.  The council also will consider approving a new $271,000 with the Waite Company to provide marketing and social media coordination for the town. 

Councilman Pascualito Maestas will present a resolution regarding suicide prevention measures at the Río Grande Gorge bridge.  

The Questa Village Council is meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. They'll discuss the Questa Municipal Airport and will be taking action on eight contracts, including those for legal and IT services.

Wednesday (June 26): 

Holy Cross Medical Center is having its monthly board meeting 6 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital board room.

Agenda items are likely to include updates on the hospital's financial situation, the facility's allotment of mill levy funds from Taos County and the publication of the "Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Strategy" published earlier this month.

Administrators at the local hospital are also currently working to fix water leaks in pipes connected to an aging heating system that is being replaced.

The hospital's annual summer "For the Health of It" cancer support walk is coming up on June 29 at Kit Carson Park.
