'Peace Scrolls' at Taos Public Library this week

“People want to to be able to express what their dream is,” Carol Miller of Peaceful Skies Coalition said. “So, now we started this [scroll project] that says ‘My Dream for Peace Is …’ "

She said the reaction of people to previous scrolls has been very positive, so the group is planning another one as part of “A Day Dedicated to Peace,” Saturday (Jan. 19), 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Taos Public Library, 402 Camino de la Placita. Admission is free.

“Enjoy the powerful Peace Scrolls that have been created in and around Taos County over the past few years,” a press release on the event states. “Children of all ages are invited to help make a new scroll. Spend a few minutes and add your ‘Dream for Peace’ or stay for the day and enjoy the dreams and visions being expressed by our community.”

Miller adds, “Looking at some of the scrolls made to date will help you see some of the power that has emerged from the simple act of asking people to share their dream for peace.”

From 2:30-4 p.m., there will be a Peaceful Skies Coalition meeting at which updates on increased military low-altitude flights in the area will be given. For more information, contact Carol Miller at the Peaceful Skies Coalition, activism@peacefulskies.org.
