County approves improvements to Llano roads

Posted

The Taos County Commission on Tuesday (Oct. 1) passed a road improvement for community members of Llano who will be seeing a new intersection on Lower Llano and Upper Llano roads.

Pavement and an updated drainage system will be in the works for the area as crews begin to update the intersection, which routinely washes out from snow and runoff, according to county officials.

"A lot of it has to do with the erosion and drainage issues there," said Taos County Chief Procurement Officer Elsa Vigil. "Everyone is really excited."

The project is set to cost just under $200,000 and will have a culvert installed for drainage in the area.

Vigil said snow in Llano melts and the runoff often washes out the road and floods porches and yards in the area. This upgrade will pave a small section of the intersection at the two Llano roads.
