Kermit Johnson, a lifelong resident of Taos, passed away on January 24, 2017 at the age of 73.
Kermit was born on July 16, 1943 in Oshkosh Wisconsin to Bertie Lee and Calvin Johnson. He grew up in Wichita Kansas where he graduated from Wichita North High School. Kermit went on to earn his master's degree in Botany from Kansas University. Kermit was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America. He volunteered his time to the organization for over 55 years. Other interests included woodworking, gardening, painting and silversmithing. Kermit loved being a grandpa.
Kermit is survived by his wife Kathy, sons Shane and Mahlon (Tanya) daughter Rachael six grandchildren Neven, Michael, Joshua, Adam, Jonathan and a new grandchild in May 2017. Kermit is also survived by his sisters Donna, Lisa, Cindy and Erin. He is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Bertie. Kermit will be deeply missed by all. A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
