In the land of Enchantment: A mountain paradise awaits

Los Cielos Ranch. On paper it can be summed up as an expansive luxury spread tucked away in a resort area of the Land of Enchantment. It is easily the equal of ultra-high-investment retreats sought out in such notoriously magnificent locations as Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Summit County, Colorado. It boasts 10,000 square feet of exquisite living space hidden among 300 acres of healthy bristlecone pine and aspen dominated forest land embraced by some of the most breathtaking views the southwest has to offer. But look deeper and you’ll find the heart and soul of this one-of-a-kind piece of Angel Fire real estate: Every square inch of this place feels like home.

This is where the peace and quiet lives.

You know you’ve gotten away from it all the moment you pass through the main access gate and lay eyes on the main house: a classic mountain lodge where nature and comfort come together. Red cedar log and rock construction pays tribute to the dramatic landscape surrounding it while promising a cozy ambience inside.

Cross the threshold and you’ll find that it delivers on that promise as you’re greeted by a spacious great room with interior walls of granite and exposed logs, a cathedral ceiling, and oversized windows letting in natural light and majestic views beyond elegantly appointed balconies. Tastefully hidden lighting illuminates artwork and accents throughout the home.

Built in 2009 for Luke and Becky Corbett, Los Cielos Ranch is designed as a family retreat, with a separate den for relaxing together, a separate bedroom for the kids, and plenty of things to do. The master bedroom and bath maximize comfort and privacy, with “his and her” everything – including closets, vanity stations, and showers. The diamond-finish plaster walls in the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and dining area add that smooth, soft tone we associate with New Mexico homes, effectively tying the rustic log-and-stone mountain experience together with that of the Southwest. With 360-degree balconies and views ranging from the Pecos Mountains to Wheeler Peak, this is one of countless essential details that were not overlooked in the design of the home.

A private workout area and two home offices complete the functionality of the main house, and a fully autonomous apartment above the three-car garage is perfect for overnight guests or staff.

The entertainment possibilities are endless at Los Cielos Ranch, with its modern kitchen, restaurant-quality appliances, and back-bar for easily accessible refreshments servicing both the living room and dining area, which features a wrought-iron chandelier of flame-colored art-glass globes above polished wooden table and chairs. A fully stocked wine cellar and tasting area offer another level of sophistication to your social gathering, and a stone-and-water accented patio just below the main house is perfect for hosting outdoors, where you and your guests are likely to be treated to sightings of resident wildlife including grouse, bobcats, and elk.

A guest house on the lower portion of the property, repurposed from its origin as a barn and workshop, is a compact version of the main house when it comes to marrying home life with social entertaining. A spacious kitchen and living room area make up one side of the structure, with bedroom, bath, and loft on the other. The adjacent corral has been converted to a patio perfect for barbecues and entertaining.

In addition to the alfresco elements of life in the main house and guest house, Los Cielos Ranch comes with a full range of opportunities for the outdoors enthusiast, all within its 300 acres, where you can enjoy hiking, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. A discreetly engineered dirt road provides access to a number of hidden surprises – nature trails, a private viewing area overlooking mountain ranges, even a secluded, stocked fishing pond. For hunters, the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish supplies six elk permits, and a private rifle range on the property provides a convenient place to perfect your marksmanship. Ownership of this property also includes HOA-exclusive access to famous trophy trout fishing at the adjacent Hidden Lake.

The boundaries of the ranch are marked by fencing designed to be all but invisible and to allow the resident elk population free movement in and out. Every acre has been maintained and thinned to optimize the sustainability of the forest ecosystem, providing healthy trees and habitat for the wildlife and game.

While the setting is supremely secluded and private, this property is also conveniently located 10 miles from Angel Fire Resort, where you’ll find activities like skiing and golfing. Nearby Taos offers world-class skiing and a uniquely New Mexico variety of galleries, restaurants, and shopping opportunities. Both Angel Fire and Taos offer the convenience of easily accessible airports.
