Snowflakes floated down over skiers and snowboarders as they flew down the mountain at Red River Ski & Summer Area over the weekend.

Like many of the local ski areas, Red River has been thriving with the snowfall that has graced New Mexico over the past couple of weeks. Adding to its 35-inch base, Red River Ski & Summer Area has reported eight inches from the most recent snowstorm. A total of 58 of the 63 trails are open and all seven chairlifts are operating, according to a report from the ski area.

Of the several ski areas situated around Taos, Red River Ski & Summer Area is the only one remaining that is family owned and operated - by the Judycki family. Founded by Stokes Bolton in 1959, the ski area is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
