Ben Ray Luján hears Taos's concerns

Posted

U.S. Rep Ben Ray Luján made his way to Taos Friday (Feb. 1) to visit various groups around town and to discuss needs and concerns of the communities.

Starting off at Taos Pueblo, Luján and his team sat with the Taos Pueblo Tribal Council to discuss boundry issues as well as funding needs for the pueblo. The biggest concern for officials at the pueblo is funding to secure borders at the pueblo as well as to keep their forests maintained.

Luján also touched on the most recent government shutdown and how it might affect happenings at the pueblo in the future.

"[The shutdown] hurt people, it hurt the communities and it hurt the country," Luján told the Tribal Council.

Luján also stopped by Corral No. 5 and discussed the new plans for farming at Not Forgotten Outreach during his Taos tour.
