Abundant moisture makes for great golf at Valle Escondido

The Valle Escondido Golf Course hosted their Valle Escondido Memorial Day tournament Saturday (May 25). The two-person scramble had five men's teams and eight teams in the mixed division and a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky - a beautiful day. The winners of the men's division of the nine-hole tournament were John Bash and Mike Miera, each with a 33, 3 under par. Chuck and Margie Dlabaj won the mixed team division with an even par of 36.

The course was in good shape thanks to the team of groundskeepers lead by Brett Hardy and Scott Boomer and the abundant moisture visited on the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico so far this year.

The Fourth of July Tournament is the next opportunity to compete at the course and will be held on July 6, with a format to be determined. The public is welcome to play in the tournaments and at any time during the week.
